In 2017, Hurricane Maria was the third devastating storm to strike the U.S. in less than a month. It was the most intense hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in more than 80 years, causing devastating losses for residents and massive damage to key infrastructure across the island.
Since the Recovery projects first started in 2018, the Red Cross has worked with numerous partners to deliver solutions to these challenges in Puerto Rico. Our recovery efforts have included four key areas: consistent power, clean water, community health and community resiliency.
