Please review our guidance on preparing for hurricane season while still protecting yourself from COVID-19. (Available in multiple languages.)
The American Red Cross and our partners are continuing to work around the clock to provide help after Hurricane Ida changed lives forever from the Gulf Coast to the Northeast. Power, water and roads are still affected in many areas, and Red Cross volunteers are there to provide support and comfort as people struggle to rebuild their lives.
Ednisha, age 14, holds baby brother Ethan as their family waits for Hurricane Ida to pass at a Red Cross evacuation shelter in Baton Rouge, LA on August 29, 2021. Across Louisiana and Mississippi, the Red Cross and other organizations have opened dozens of evacuation shelters, offering safe refuge for hundreds of people like Ednisha and Ethan.
