You can put your un-used miles to work for the Red Cross through the generosity of several major airlines. The airline partners listed below permit their loyalty program members to donate their miles to help our volunteers and staff get to critical areas. Thanks to people like you who donate their miles, the Red Cross can fulfill our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies.
Alaska Airlines
Mileage Plan Members can donate miles to the American Red Cross through the CARE Miles program. Simply sign onto your Mileage Plan account, select the Donate Miles link and select American Red Cross from the drop-down list.
American Airlines
American Airlines AAdvantage® members may donate miles in 1,000-mile increments to American’s Miles of Hope program, which supports humanitarian organizations like the Red Cross.
Delta Air Lines
Delta Air Lines supports the Red Cross by allowing its SkyMiles customers to donate their frequent flyer miles through Delta’s SkyWish program. Delta customers can donate miles through the Delta SkyWish website
JetBlue
TrueBlue members can use their TrueBlue points to contribute to the American Red Cross. Click on the Donate Points link, select American Red Cross from the list, and decide how many points you want to donate. Donation minimum is at least 500 points.
United Airlines
Mileage Plus members can make donations to the American Red Cross through United Airline's Mileage Plus charity program. The minimum mileage requirement for a donation is 1,000 miles. All donations should be made by visiting the Mileage Plus Service Center or by calling 1-800-421-4655.
If you would like to donate your frequent flyer miles to the Red Cross, please contact your airline. The IRS recognizes the donation of airline miles or points as a gift from the airline to the charitable organization. Therefore, miles donated to the Red Cross are not considered tax-deductable by the individual donor. For further information, consult IRS Publication 526 and/or your personal tax advisor.
The miles donated through these agreements are used solely for Red Cross mission-related travel. The Red Cross often receives requests to use these donated air miles for people who need assistance to travel due to a medical or other personal emergency, such as a death in the family. Due to the restrictions noted above, miles donated to the Red Cross cannot be used by individuals or groups of people with travel needs that are beyond the scope of the Red Cross mission.
